Entirely filmed inside the Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg. Thanks to a collaboration with Mikado Distribution and with the Cultural Bureau of the Embassy of Russian Federation it is possible for Mr. Ivanov to partecipate to this event. The Russian Ark is the first real one-shot film in the history of cinema: one 90-minutes long shot, filmed inside the oneiric labirinth of Hermitage. An extraordinary achievement made possible by the development of digital technology applied to filming and its highly creative utilization.

Free sofware: An interview with Richard Stallman
by Marina Catucci and Daniele Salvini
Richard Matthew Stallman (RMS; born March 16, 1953) is a central figure of the free software movement, founder of the GNU project and the Free Software Foundation. He invented the concept of copyleft to support this movement, and embodied the concept in the widely-used GNU General Public License (GPL) software license. He is also a notable programmer with his major accomplishments including the text-editor Emacs, the compiler GCC, and the debugger GDB, all of which are part of the GNU project.
But he is of greatest influence for establishing the moral, political, and
legal framework for the free software movement, as an alternative to proprietary
software development and distribution.
Self-defined as videomakers, Marina Catucci and Daniele Salvini studied sociology
and communications in Italy. They are members of Centro Studi e Ricerche Cinematografiche

In collaboration with KIT - Kairos Italy Theater and Witness.org, an event to discover how new technologies - and especially digital - are used to fight world-wide violations of Human Rights. WITNESS is a human rights program that attracts the eyes of the world and inspires those who see - to act by giving to local activists video cameras and field training. Today, WITNESS unleashes an arsenal of computers, imaging and editing software, satellite phones and email in the struggle for justice. WITNESS has worked with over 150 WITNESS partner groups from 50 countries to use video to overcome political, economic, and physical barriers, and to expose human rights abuses to the world via television, grassroots advocacy, and internet broadcasting. WITNESS partner groups reveal human rights violations that go unnoticed and unreported -- to their governments and communities, to international tribunals and UN committees, and to TV viewers worldwide via outlets like the BBC, CNN, ABC, Court TV and Worldlink Satellite Television. The event will present two training videos made by witness and witness partners to instruct local activists and two videos that are the results of such a training.
WITNESS advances human rights advocacy through the use of video and communications technology. In partnership with non-governmental organizations and human rights defenders, WITNESS strengthens grassroots movements for change by providing video technology and assisting its partners to use video as evidence before courts and the United Nations, as a tool for public education, and as a deterrent to further abuse. WITNESS also gives local groups a global voice by distributing their video to the media and on the Internet, and by helping to educate and activate an international audience around their causes.
WITNESS was founded by Peter Gabriel, the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights and the Reebok Foundation. WITNESS is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization supported through a combination of foundation grants, private donations, and pro bono goods and services.
KIT-Kairos Italy Theater was born in 1996, as an extention of the Le Gramaglie theater group of Rome.
